Tata Mini Essay

Who can participate?
  • Students: The competition is open to school students across India across 3 categories.
    Primary: Classes 1st – 5th (Winner and Runner Up)
    Junior: Classes 6th – 8th (Winner and Runner Up)
    Senior: Classes 9th – 12th (Winner and Runner Up)
  • Schools: Schools are encouraged to register and motivate their students to participate. The more submissions from a school, the higher its chances to win national recognition and a prize of 10 laptops!
Submission guidelines
  1. Topic: Each student must submit a short, original essay on the topic –
    What do you love about India?
  2. Length: Submissions should not exceed 250 words. Keep your essay clear, concise, and impactful.
  3. Languages: Submissions are accepted in multiple languages to ensure inclusivity. Students are free to write in any one of the following languages: Hindi, English, Marathi, Gujarati, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu or Urdu.
  4. Format: The submission must be entered through the designated platform. Handwritten or offline submissions will not be accepted.
  5. Individual submissions: Each student is allowed to submit only one mini essay. Multiple submissions from the same student will be disqualified.
  6. School & individual participation:
    • Through schools: If you are submitting through your school’s unique link, you will be redirected to the Student Participation page to participate.
    • Individual participants: Please check if your school is registered using the Find My School page. If you can’t find your school, you can click on the green Student Participation button where you will need to enter your school’s name manually.
  7.  Evaluation: All submissions will be evaluated using AI-based evaluation techniques followed by manual  reviews for shortlisted entries.
Important deadlines
  • School registration deadline: 26th January, 2025
  • Mini essay submission deadline: 31st January, 2025
  • Winner announcement: Mid February, 2025

Prizes & incentives

  • For students:
    – The top 6 mini essays (2 per category) will win laptops. 
    – A chance at National recognition along with a medal and certificate.
    – Digital participation certificates for all submissions.
  • For schools: The top school with the highest participation percentage and best mini essays will win 10 laptops and a certificate of recognition.

Rules

  • All submissions must be original and created by the student. Plagiarized content will result in disqualification.
  • Essays generated with the help of AI tools are strongly discouraged and will receive lower scores. All entries will undergo strict plagiarism checks to ensure originality.
  • Any form of manipulation or misrepresentation (like false registrations) will lead to immediate disqualification.
  • There is no entry or registration fee.
  • Only one entry can be submitted by each student.
  • Participants must produce valid identification and contact details if the organizers require them.
  • The organizers retain the right to make any changes to the event, including but not limited to its format, date, rules, prizes, etc., without any prior notice.
  • Once you participate in this competition, you indicate your acceptance of the format, prizes, and organizers’ decisions, including judging essays, which will be final and binding.
  • The participants and attendees permit themselves to be photographed/recorded by electronic, online, and print media for telecast and publication by entering the competition. They further consent to be contacted by their given contact details.
  • The participants and winners of this competition grant the organizers irrevocable, worldwide, exclusive, royalty-free, and perpetual rights to use their essays in any way, shape or form that the organizers deem fit.
  • All decisions taken by the organizers will be final and binding on all issues related to Tata Building India Digital Mini Essays and the Tata Building India School Essay Competition.

Evaluation criteria

All mini essays will be evaluated using AI-based evaluation techniques followed by manual reviews for shortlisted entries. Mini essays will be judged based on 3 criteria mentioned below and each criterion carries 10 marks, totaling 30 marks.

  1. Relevance to topic (10 Marks)
    • How well does your essay align with the topic?
  2. Creativity (10 Marks)
    • Is your approach original and fresh?
  3. Communication of idea
    (10 Marks)
    • Are your ideas clearly and concisely expressed?

Submission procedure

Step 1: Register through the school’s unique link or as an individual.

Step 2: Submit your idea through the official platform before the deadline.

Step 3: Await evaluation and check back for winner announcements.
