General questions
What is Tata Building India Digital Mini Essays?
This is a national-level competition where students share their mini essays on what they love about India. The initiative aims to inspire young minds and engage schools across India towards nation-building.
Who can participate?
The competition is open to school students across India from the 1st -12th Standard, with participation encouraged through registered schools or individual entries.
There are 3 categories for evaluation:
1. Primary (Classes 1st - 5th)
2. Junior (Classes 6th - 8th)
3. Senior (Classes 9th - 12th)
Each category will have 1 Winner and 1 Runner-Up.
Is there a fee to participate?
No, participation in this competition is completely free of charge.
Is this competition the same as the Tata Building India School Essay Competition? What’s different?
While this initiative shares the same spirit as the Tata Building India School Essay Competition, it’s designed to be a shorter, digital-only version with a focus on quick and short essay submissions (within 250 words).
I already participated in Tata Building India School Essay Competition. Am I eligible?
Yes, you are eligible to participate in Tata Building India Digital Mini Essays, even if you have previously participated in Tata Building India School Essay Competition.
Why should I participate in this?
This is a new initiative designed to encourage students to write shorter, impactful essays of not more than 250 words. It offers fresh opportunities for recognition and exciting prizes like laptops, certificates, and medals!
Registration & Participation
How can schools register for the competition?
Schools that have already participated in the Tata Building India School Essay Competition will be pre-registered and can use the Find My School Page to get their unique school link to share with students. If schools can't find themselves listed in Find My School, they can click on the orange School Participation button to fill up the form and register
If a school has participated in Tata Building India School Essay Competition will they be pre registered?
Schools that have participated in the Tata Building India School Essay Competition are already pre registered, and can find their school listed in the 'Find My School' page. In case the school does not show up on the list, they can register using the orange School Registration button.
How can students participate in the competition?
Students can participate by submitting their mini essay through their school's unique link which is shared by the school, or can be found on the 'Find My School' page. If their school isn’t listed, students can click the green 'Student Participation' button to manually enter their school name and personal details. They can then write and submit their essay directly on this platform. Upon successful submission, students will receive a digital participation certificate to download.
Can students participate independently if their school is not registered?
Yes, students can participate independently if their school is not registered. They can visit the 'Find My School' page and click on the green 'Student Participation' button. Then they can manually enter their school name and details, and proceed to submit their essay on the platform. This allows them to participate as individual entrants even without school registration. After submission, they will receive a digital participation certificate.
Submission & Evaluation
What is the submission format?
Students must submit a short, original essay based on the topic within 250 words on the topic: 'What do you love about India?'
Can students submit their mini essays in regional languages?
Yes, students can submit their mini essays in Hindi, English, Marathi, Gujarati, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu or Urdu.
What is the last date for the submission of mini essays?
The last date for submission is 31st January, 2025. Ensure you complete your mini essay submission before this date.
What are the categories for evaluation?
There are 3 categories for evaluation, Primary (Classes 1st - 5th), Junior (Classes 6th - 8th), Senior (Classes 9th - 12th). Each category will have 1 Winner and 1 Runner-Up.
How will the submissions be evaluated?
Submissions will undergo AI-based evaluation followed by manual reviews of shortlisted entries. The evaluation will focus on Relevance to Topic, Creativity and Communication of Idea. The topic is 'What do you love about India?'
When will the winners be announced?
Winners will be announced around the middle of February 2025 through the website and social media channels.
Prizes & Certificates
What are the prizes for the winners?
The top 6 student mini essays (2 per category) will win laptops, certificates, and medals for their efforts. Additionally, the top performing school with the highest participation rate and best mini essays will receive 10 laptops and a certificate.
Will all participants receive a certificate?
Yes, all participants will receive a digital certificate of participation upon successful submission of their mini essays.
How will I receive my certificate?
Upon submission of the mini essay, students will see a 'Download Your Certificate' button. Digital participation certificates will also be automatically emailed to the registered parent's email address once the submission is complete.
